pic and link of John DalyI'm a big fan of Patricia Tallman. I don't know why, really (who can say WHY they're a "fan" of someone, really?) She's not a spectacular actress. She's certainly attractive. And I admire her charity work.

Hey, I just noticed she looks a little like [livejournal.com profile] rahna. A little. This reminds me, adding to a long-ago post's merriment, last night's Criminal Intent had Bronson Pinchot as a guest star. On the episode last night anyway, Bronson Pinchot resembled [livejournal.com profile] s4! If you people are now annoyed by being constantly compared to celebrities, I offer you the picture and link at right, featuring golfer John Daly. I have been told I bear a resemblance to him. I hate golf, but I like that you can be a professional at it and be chubby. That picture (if the deep link works) is awesome, because he's smoking. What a badass.

Anyway, I like Patricia Tallman. Apropos of nothing... well, apropos of it making the net-rounds these days, I found this pretty amazing recording called "America We Stand As One" by Dennis Madalone. The site features a video. It's beyond belief. Seriously amazing. I can't decide what my favorite part is (probably when the waves crash in around him, just go watch it). But I'm just sure that's Patricia Tallman standing at the grave site, holding a baby. I did some searching and I'm just sure of it. Fact: She's been a stuntwoman. Fact: she's worked with stunt coordinator Dennis Madalone on Star Trek and other shows. That link amuses me because it reveals she was once asked to be on a B5 vs. DS9 panel. I can't believe she said no! She's uniquely situated, having been on both shows. Oh yeah, they prolly just wanted her to dish. But she probably did it as a favor to her friend, Mr. Madalone. And for charity. Or maybe she just really really loves the flag.

One thing I'm pretty sure I can confirm: the Madalone video is not a parody. Example: at this charity site it mentions the photo of B5/crusade cast members being donated, but also this quote: "As a special promotion, the first 100 orders will receive a special gift - former Star Trek stunt coordinator Dennis Madalone has donated 100 copies of his hit single 'America, We Stand as One'." This is sincere. Salute that flag, heathen mofos!

I'm reminded of this thread because The Revealer mentions the video. I love The Revealer. They're keeping an eye on the media and on religion. That's pretty important.

I tend to agree with Chomsky's assessments of the Neibuhr boys, but there's a good article/discussion about (and excellent hand-tinted photo of) him at killing the buddha where they point out that "it was the the enemy [who] had the audacity to claim divine purpose. America, said Niebuhr, knew better." I think that's inspired.

We might justly be suspicious of all political ideologies which claim divine backing for themselves. Where politics can be a great force for good and moral order in the world, it remains a thing of the world. Isn't it? Perhaps it's an adiaphoran. (follow this link or this one and go mad. or perhaps be induced to learn about Flacius. Yay Flacius!)
