Anyway, I like Patricia Tallman. Apropos of nothing... well, apropos of it making the net-rounds these days, I found this pretty amazing recording called "America We Stand As One" by Dennis Madalone. The site features a video. It's beyond belief. Seriously amazing. I can't decide what my favorite part is (probably when the waves crash in around him, just go watch it). But I'm just sure that's Patricia Tallman standing at the grave site, holding a baby. I did some searching and I'm just sure of it. Fact: She's been a stuntwoman. Fact: she's worked with stunt coordinator Dennis Madalone on Star Trek and other shows. That link amuses me because it reveals she was once asked to be on a B5 vs. DS9 panel. I can't believe she said no! She's uniquely situated, having been on both shows. Oh yeah, they prolly just wanted her to dish. But she probably did it as a favor to her friend, Mr. Madalone. And for charity. Or maybe she just really really loves the flag.
One thing I'm pretty sure I can confirm: the Madalone video is not a parody. Example: at this charity site it mentions the photo of B5/crusade cast members being donated, but also this quote: "As a special promotion, the first 100 orders will receive a special gift - former Star Trek stunt coordinator Dennis Madalone has donated 100 copies of his hit single 'America, We Stand as One'." This is sincere. Salute that flag, heathen mofos!
I'm reminded of this thread because The Revealer mentions the video. I love The Revealer. They're keeping an eye on the media and on religion. That's pretty important.

Date: 2005-04-11 09:39 pm (UTC)that america we stand as one video was pretty insane, i just saw it last week. it would be impossible to make a parody of everything wrong with that video that was cooler than the video itself. i like the angels and also the thought bubble type clouds with the people in them. and the weird energy that keeps going in and out of the singer? that's just awesome, it reminds me of how phillip dick used to talk about having information beamed into his head by a pink laser. the singer is possessed by heavenly energy! also you have to admit the athem is very antem-y. wow. i really love that song. i love america too. and also the u.s.a. and also john daly's belly.

Date: 2005-04-12 02:58 pm (UTC)That's exactly the right phrase: no parody would be better than it is on its own. It's like the perfect pop object: utterly sincere, perfectly hilarious, totally insane. And we must carry on. Carry on. USA! USA! USA!

Date: 2005-04-12 03:53 pm (UTC)At the Telus Skins Game John Daly proudly announced to the world that he is pregnant. John just got up on the 17th tee, lifted his shirt and screamed "this isn't a beer gut, I've got a bun in the oven everybody, the baby is kicking, Little John is friggin kicking, Hank get over here & feel this, hurry." Hank Kuehne promptly placed his hand on the oversized belly and vouched that there is definitely kicking going on in there.
