Cat Stevens to be deported another version at CNN

Yusuf Islam is apparently on a no-fly, terrorist watch list. I don't know if I'm more annoyed that he's on the list, or that someone on the list made it all the way through TSA security and was partway to London before they grounded the jet. I don't know what charities he's giving to, and if they're terrorist fronts, then I condemn it. But the tone of a number of the news stories I've seen makes it sound like giving money to any Muslim charity is reason enough to be suspect, particularly the CNN one, which in the timing and tone of its reportage is ridiculous: "A government official said Islam was on the watch list because of "known associations and financial support to organizations believed to be aiding terrorism." According to U.S. officials, he is an active supporter of Muslim charities. One administration official said the singer had been in the United States as recently as May and was a recent addition to the list."

So the leap is made this way: government officials say he's on the list because of support to organizations believed to be aiding terrorism...after all, he IS an active supporter of Muslim charities. Yay for gotcha journalism.

I thought the right called CNN 'Commie News Network' or somesuch. I repeat: the liberal media is only as liberal as the giant conservative corporations that own it.

Stevens should have been put on someone's watch list for something way back when he recorded the appalling Another Saturday Night!

Well...okay, not all of his songs were golden...

But does that mean we should put William Shatner on the watch list for his "interpretations" of pop songs?

Or that we put Britney Spears on the watch list for everything in her discography?

...um...

Okay...maybe those aren't good examples...

Bon Jovi?

...now that I think about it...

Yeah, actually I'd like to see Bon Jovi on a watch list...

no. Bill Shatner rocks.

Britney Spears goes on another list, one of those, "these-people-should-be-appearing-at-the-Hague-for-trial-soon" type of lists.

I was hoping Jon's shift into acting would finally kill Bon Jovi. I guess it was not to be.
