Chair of the US Election Assistance Commission , DeForest Soaries asked Tom Ridge to get the power to delay the election, if necessary, as reported here on CNN.com. Soaries talks about being worried that no government agency has the authority to postpone the election. Oh, I didn't know that was a fucking worry these days. Gee, when I go to bed at night, probably the LOWEST PRIORITY I CAN POSSIBLY IMAGINE is making sure that someone has the power to DELAY THE ELECTION. As in, I find it unthinkably obvious that we need NO ONE to be able to do this kind of fascist maneuver. No one at all. But apparently, it's the kind of thing that keeps good Baptists awake.(I've ALWAYS been on record as being suspicious of those people)
That agency, the US Election Assistance Commission sounds like a distinctly doublespeak name for an office. Particularly using their parlance on the cnn site: it was created "after the disputed 2000 presidential vote to help states deal with logistical problems in their elections". Yeah, a GOP created office to help states with logistical problems-- you mean like with those pesky logistical inconveniences such as making sure the Jews and Blacks stay home? Palast on the subject. And Chomsky, just for fun. More from Palast. And of course, They're trying it again.
Presumably the Election Assistance Commission will help??
Used to be, if you don't vote, don't bitch.
Truth is, if you don't vote, you're an irresponsible git who is putting me, my beloved friends and family, and the future of my child and all other children at serious risk.
If you don't vote, don't hope.
