"...really miss what really did exist when I held your throat so tight"
The news that Operation Frostbite is canceled really pissed me off. Even though given some earlier-made plans for tonight, it would have been kinda inconvenient for us to actually go and have fun, we did plan to make an appearance, make a donation, quaff some beer and show our support, even bringing the munchkin for a few minutes before the bands started and before we dropped her off at Grandma's before our other event. Because she's always fun at parties!
God dammit what a stupid crock of shit. This is totally fucking stupid fucking thoughtcrime report on your neighbors fascist police state bullshit and if you think it isn't you're fucking naive, frightfully so. I'm ashamed to live in the precinct that probably took the call (we live in 2, and I'm guessing it's in that one based on the mpd precincts map http://www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/police/images/precincts-5.gif although there's a possibility the precinct I'm moving into (4) actually took it, but that would be just as bad since one of the reasons we're moving in is the crime prevention specialist we know at 4th precinct) Whatever. It's totally fucked. I'm relieved to hear the cop was nice to
ethel about it and he felt bad n' shite, but that doesn't change the fact he fucking over reacted based on false information. In any case, Officer Kneejerk needs to study his readily fucking available police procedures manual and file it as Item 7 "Case Closed - Unfounded" asap.
Perhaps too we should have supported HF 618 which "Establishes a crime for providing false information to an on-duty peace officer regarding the conduct of others. The crime applies if the person knew the information was false and intended the officer to act in reliance upon it. Under current law in Minnesota, it is illegal to falsely report a crime to a law enforcement officer. Under another statute it is also illegal to give a false name or date of birth to a peace officer." I like the idea of making a crime to falsely inform on your fellow citizens. Think: If the only way to know about the location was to contact one of the organizers, then the only information you'd get would be that the event is NOT selling booze and is NOT breaking the law. So you'd have to know you were reporting false information about it if you said otherwise to the fucking cops. YOU don't just deserve a lecture and a smiting, you deserve to be punished by the fucking law. On the other hand, maybe HF 618 did pass. In which case, it's high time to bring this fucker to real justice.
The events suddenly resurrected a bunch of NWA lyrics long dormant in my head... something something rhymes with bread n' water ...fuck tha police comin straight from tha underground etc. Dear anonymous liar You are the police now. You, citizen. And you are abusing your powers. Fuck you you fucking tool, I hope you get a fucking skin infection.

Date: 2005-07-29 09:57 pm (UTC)I'm thinking that:
1.) the police really didn't want to have to deal with a party,
2.) they wanted to push the "get a permit" procedure.
It's a kind of passive-agressive approach, and one I'm familar with from trying to get film permits. Even when you are told that you don't need a permit, you can be really hassled if you don't actually have one. And if you have weapons, even prop ones, forget it.
It's probably not a "case" as such, and thus doesn't get a status of open/closed, etc.
It's also likely that whoever called misunderstood what was happening. The information was on various LJ pages, and it didn't specifically say that booze was not being sold.
But, point of fact: somebody called or e-mailed the cops.
