Fire in Alexandria
Oct. 27th, 2006 03:49 pmSO. someone needed to back up their files so we stuck the big external drive onto their computer and told the retrospect to do the 1 touch backup.
apparently one step for the one touch backup is deleting files off the destination. um, ok? all three partitions of the destination, though? like partition two where I had an itunes library stored? an eight thousand song library accumulated over two and a half years.
gone. not even dust, just ... gone.
Memo to the RIAA: I'm not aware of being under investigation, but you sure can stop now before you get started! There's nothing to prosecute or sue for! No violations here! Much of the music most probably could meet a courtroom definition of legal, but you know, in a collection that big, you probably can't be sure. So, now we know. At least I'm legal.
it's not a uniquely large library, sure. but it's bigger than nothing.
at least I have my ipod. my first generation, 5GB ipod.
like cutting off a limb. except instead of using it to walk or handle objects, it's the limb partly responsible for my sanity.
