a morning prayer

Blessed are you o Lord our God, ruler of the universe: We know that you do not like to take sides in the paltry exchanges of elite power among elites as they forever work to keep your people oppressed and distracted from contemplating your glory and the good works which you have set aside but just this once could you, who have been known to act in history from time to time (see: incarnation, flood, etc.), in your infinite wisdom, please we beseech you, help America toss the GOP out in the mid-term elections? We know, Lord, that the Democrats are not much better (and some, like Joe Lieberman and Henry Cuellar are worse) we ask that you strangely warm their hearts to perhaps make some kind of contract with America or other kind of public statement that they will lead the country back from the brink of war with Iran, one which sought for no good reason and everyone knows it even if the so-called liberal media is already being used to promulgate stories of the various evils done in Iran which we know are evil and which we know would be good to stop but which we believe other methods could be tried--there haven't even been sanctions or diplomacy!--Lord in your almighty wisdom and power please lift us out of this particular hell for a few months? Or, since you do like to traffic in miracles and clearly your hand was at work in the downfall of Tom Delay, we who beg you for this boon would be satisfied if one morning a majority of Republicans suddenly woke up and started talking like sensible human beings. Even if they just went back to like, the middling ideologies of Eisenhower, millions of lives would probably be saved. You are gracious and merciful to the end of our days, which may be coming sooner than we like. But whatever you feel is best, Lord. Amen.
