what if peak oil's a fraud? I'm not saying it is, but there's intriguing points here. I'm especially swayed by the point that it benefits oil companies to keep telling us how irreplaceable and therefore extra-valuable this resource is. However, I'd like some more ...
reliable info before making up my mind. Or some distance from the other
guys who claim it's a "zionist plot". I don't put much faith in that sort of anti-semitically driven racist bullshit. Also, the "gee that's a lot of dinosaurs, bob!" sneering is just stupid. Obviously if oil isn't abiotic, it isn't all dinosaurs! Though I like the guy who said "it's way more than microbes and cabbages" or whatever. But seriously, it's not just dinosaurs. Nobody really thinks that anymore. If oil is strictly biotic, its source is like planet-wide biomass. Whatever. Also, I'm a little leery of
the Mises guys, though I've always been fairly friendly with libertarians in general (every so often I want to be one!). Let's just
catch the monkey. At the very least, I'd like to
grow some freakin' acorns soon!
We need more science dammit.
(signs you know you've crossed over fully: you say "we need more science!" and even if in your head you hear it in the voice of one of those 40's/50's sci-fi radio guys, it sounds perfectly normal, better, even than the other voices in your head.)
