Picture links to today's favorite. One I think I've linked to before. This mint biker chick took pictures in the area around Chernobyl. They are the awesome. She also has pictures from last year's Orange Revolution. Picture this woman speeding around the ghost towns of Ukraine, hungry for adventure, documenting the horrors of our past with an unblinking eye. Bearing memories of oppression and multiple revolution for all of us. A small flame of hope from dead images. Gosh, I think I love you Elena! If Tarkovsky was still around, he'd probably make a movie about her. If it didn't, you know, slowly kill your crew, imagine making a film in that region...

I hate to harsh your buzz, but I remember reading that the thing was kind of a fraud. She just went on a package holiday in the safe areas, and brought along a motorcycle helmet. Seriously.

everything is a hoax. nothing cool happens anymore. the only adventure available is through controlled tours. even space, the final frontier will be safely packaged and digested in disney-esque fashion.

the last picture in the orange revolution link is really pretty. but the writing says 'winter festival' and not revolution or anything cool like that. the pictures were all taken from a winter festival with fake captioning. internet truth is schrodinger's cat, simultaneously true and false!

one thing i always wondered about that thought experiment is why it's so dead or alive. like the big question is whether or not the cat is dead or alive. what about other states? why couldn't it be the cat is neither dead or alive, jumping or sleeping, trying to get out of the box or licking it's fur, drinking martinis or jumping on a trampoline? does the state even have to be a possibility or can it be anything we can imagine? i mean, if we don't know until we open the box what's in it then why be so limited in the possiblities?

well, all those states are substates of being alive, so you can sort of boil those other ones away. unless hot electrodes were introduced to the body, it wouldn't jump if it was dead.

in fact the schrodingers cat experiment points out that the cat is NOT dead or alive, but rather a place between those states until the event is observed (i.e. opening the box) and the probability waveforms collapse. so, yeah, there is a third possible state of unlife/undeath. It's an unzombie kitty.

i still think it's not so dead or alive. or between those two states. how do you know the cat hasn't changed into a frog? is that part of the probablity waveforms, even a little bit? (cool phrase by the way - probability waveforms) unzombie kitty is a good sensor title

i think that it's highly probable that the kitty stepped on the thing that would release the poisonous gas so that even if the decaying thing shot off something to let the gas out that the gas wouldn't be released anyway. ever. the cat is always alive. EVERY SINGLE TIME!
