I'm a big Christian Bale fan

Here's an interesting take on the Christian Bale kerfuffle. It's a former producer/assistant director who has worked with Bale before (on Rescue Dawn). It doesn't excuse the behavior, but it contextualizes things. I know I empathize, I was constantly disrupted whenever Bill or one of the numerous crew members would hover in our eyelines. Er...anyway, it's a good article.

I don't have time to read the full article right now, but I will because I love love love Christian Bale. I listened to the audio the other day and didn't think it was totally out of line. I love his work and I'm sure his process is full and a total expression of himself. He goes to amazing places in his subtleties and expressions. I think he's getting such a bad rap because he doesn't kiss ass and that's what hollywood wants of its stars.
Thanks for posting the article.

Now that's fascinating. the article paints a real picture of what it means to be professional as well. i find that very gratifying.

I listened to the Bale outburst last night for the first time. I totally understand Bale's, erm, balefulness because he's unable to do his work with that kind of distraction, and the DP who's the object of his ire doesn't seem to grasp how his (the DP's) behavior could be unprofessional or disruptive.

Frankly, I was more interested in how Bale's accent would shift from Standard American English to British English and slithered around a continuum of dialects. Bale was emotional and speaking rapidly, so I doubt it was conscious. Interesting!
