random notes

Super Bowl: I dislike the Bears, so it's always nice to watch them lose. Especially after one of those opening things that--when things went as fast the last time--could end up 46-10 or somesuch.

I cannot say how much I loved the Emerald Nuts ad with Bob Goulet (yeah, I call him Bob now, we're that tight).

After all the jokes about 2004's wardrobe malfunction, I just love the giant middle finger given to the stupid FCC for its draconian madness. Oh you missed it? CBS really stuck it to em, flagrantly waving it in their face. So to speak. You know, Prince's enormous...shall we say...New Power Generator? Although, he frickin rocked and was so much more interesting than some recent artists have been. I told Eleanor, "you know what? He's from Minneapolis." "Whaaaat?! Minneapolis? Him too? Ohhhh!" It was awesome. We played with Duplos and ate pizza. A pretty good game experience was had by all.

I feel like the O Line deserved more recognition for their part in dominating a supposedly-amazing Bears defense, and Jeff Saturday is like the best thing since sliced bread. Jeff Saturday is one of my heroes, because he's so absurdly good at being an NFL center. Also, and I say this under the influence of many people on my friends list who surely would agree, while probably not at the top of NFL players who should be gay and should come out of the closet, he certainly cracks the top 10. Brian Urlacher (number...uh, I guess #16 on this list I've most certainly just invented) is too obvious. Also: couldn't beat Jeff Saturday the other night! So, two strikes against Brian! Number one with a bullet? Uh... jeez, this got away from me fast. Lorenzo Neil! Or Jeff Christy? I don't know though, another center? NO: clearly it is Bearded Donovan McNabb. Yeehaw!

Pregnancy notes: Leann got sick last night, again. But it's all good: the puking made her back pains go away! Pregnancy is weird.

Books: Finished reading Wil Wheaton's book. It was awesome. Wesley Crusher, voice of my generation.

Studio 60: sometimes this show is too precious and obvious, and I shouldn't like it, but I find the scenes with CEO Jack by far the most interesting. Steven Weber is just so eminently watchable. And his Chinese foil is outstanding. ( What did Matthew Perry just say? Wait. A rabbit is not a sphere, is it? topologically speaking? isn't it a toroid? I don't know anything about math.) Oh, but Jordan's little magic trick was a nice touch. I didn't see that coming. Steven Weber's imdb entry shows several voice credits, including Higglytown Heroes. This puts TMBG songs in my head by the basketful.

Actually, with the way they scheme their defense Urlacher spends most of his time covering receivers. Overall though I unfortunately got just what I expected from the Bears in the Super Bowl. Just like I got just what I expected from the Vikings against the Falcons sevral years ago. People choose to be blind in their fandom instead of accepting the weaknesses in their favorite teams. I just don't think it is that hard to recognize when a team is dumb luck away from a significantly different record.

Nice post. I'm sure everyone wanted to hear about THAT.

I didn't say YOU were weird. I said pregnancy was. It was supposed to be a sympathy post. Crimony I can't do anything right!
