The System is Down The System is Down
Aug. 2nd, 2004 04:08 pmso at what point does the "you know you're a___ when____" effect kick in?
Is it that I noticed this?

or that I spent time googling for what happened? (though a google search seems to reveal links related to a July 16 outage, not a current one)
or that I journal about it here, complete with hyperlinks and obligatory strongbad reference in the title?
or is it that i'm actually a little anxious to find out what's become of my slashdot-related news?
or is it that i'm now manifestly relieved that it is apparently working fine and that my outage was probably a problem on my end or something?
Just when does being a geek mutate from a cute affectation into being something more sinister?
When do my interests become illness?
In the OCD world, it's when the obsessions begin to interfere with normal activities. However, as a tech professional, reading the latest news on slashdot is actually defensibly related to my job. So it's hard to think of it as truly interfering.
