mad conspiracy inspired notion of the day
Mar. 1st, 2004 10:53 amno evidence. but consider this lunatic idea:
A bus strike helps Republicans. Pro-union, progressives and poor people would have a tough time during an election or on a vote day if the buses aren't running. People who don't own cars may have a tough time getting to the polls.
Ergo, if Metrotransit goes on strike, tomorrow's super tuesday voting will have supressed turnout, particularly in areas where people would rely on the bus to get to the caucuses.
Truly paranoid prediction:
management will have a change of heart sometime after Thursday-- shortly after papers report lowest TC Metro area turnout for democrats in years and white house spins a story that the tide of heretofore high turnout numbers in the primary season has turned and that word of being "close" to catching bin Laden, along with a surging economy, is changing people's minds and they are embracing the president. This will enter the right wing echo chamber... err, I mean, the mainstream media... and we'll hear that even in the hotbed of liberalism, Minneapolis/St. Paul, people are not fired up about a change. QED.
Oh, and if that's not kooky enough, I predict:
Another impasse will happen on October 26th. The wealthy masters of the bus companies would gleefully look forward to four more years of Bush.
