IN other news, Absinthe is back, legalized in Switzerland. A mountainous country full of wealthy, heavily armed chocolatiers and watch makers drunk to the gills on Samichlaus and hallucinating in a green haze. What's not to like? Sign. Me. Up.

Yeehaw! I was just reading an old article from Modern Drunkard the other night that detailed the fabulousness of $200-a-bottle absinthe. The guy *really liked it. I was thinking a bunch of us should special order a bottle some night and give it a whirl. (The stuff he got came from Prague, I believe.)

not sure, but I think 200/bottle is too high. I seem to recall a friend getting it for much less

also, there's ways to brew your own (wormwood is readily available) but some people might not feel so good about that.

on his cd, mitch hedberg said he didn't hallucinate at all, and he's pretty experienced. he was, anyway. before the other drugs killed him.

Yes, $200 a bottle is high. Maybe it's the shipping cost, or maybe it's because they use the old school reciple with 100mg of Thujone - ten times the legal limit allowed in Europe. I think the brand was "King of Spirits" and the author described it has having a pic of Van Gogh on it.

I don't know if people always hallucinate, I think sometimes you just feel fantastic and shiny - not dull like with alcohol.
