happy casimir pulaski day

»   Oh the glory that the lord has made/And the complications when I see his face/In the morning in the window / Oh the glory when he took our place / But he took my shoulders and he shook my face / And he takes and he takes and he takes«

O yes, it's also coming out day, which is the real reason for this post I suppose (in case you need a refresher).

So there's some crap in the news by John Aravosis where he talks trash about transgendered people and the fight for BLTG rights. Ugh. Susan Stryker wrote what I consider a definitive response. Some day, our society won't suck so bad. I hope we get there by the time Eleanor and Henry are grown. I used to joke that if we had a boy, I hoped he was gay (that was back just before Eleanor was born). Well, I don't know what I think. I want my children (plural! goodness!) to be happy. I so hope they grow up happy and loved, queer straight or asexual.

I mean, they're going to be loved. I hope they find love outside the home too, in this bad old world--the one, the very one--that at least somebody's eye was able to look upon once and say "it is good." I hope when they figure it out, our kids won't take a long time telling us, or feel any torture leading up to it, if they like girls boys or nothing at all. Dream big, papa bear, dream big.
Oh the glory that the lord has made...
