yay saturday-into-sunday work
I'm up late tonight working, updating THIS.
One of our designers/information architects and I made a a way to sign the proclamation which is pretty handy. I think it would be pretty cool if some folks (like anyone reading this who wants to) signed their support for the proclamation. Go ahead and read thru the site too, it's a pretty good idea. I like the idea of a heritage month that celebrates a fuller spectrum of diversity, in addition to the existing ones. Mostly right now I like the idea of my bosses going on the site to double check my work and seeing a ton of signatories on the proclamation already.
I did use the content management system to make sharing your ideas possible very quickly and easily.
I'm not the designer, but mostly the content manager. I and the aforementioned designer had to work around some of the limitations of the original front page look and then put it into our content manager. So if the design looks a tad pixellated, call some other guy (an independent contractor who isn't working with our company anymore). It also means that those bits of navigation on the front page had to be wedged in around the available space. The original nav had six links in those glowy words around the weaving. We had to find a way to change the words on some of the links (for new content) and add big announcement links, etc. All without the original image files. Compromises compromises.
I must fly to Washington Monday and meet with the DBP folks about some other stuff, then I get to go to this proclamation announcement ceremony. I guess that's pretty cool. Maybe I'll get to meet some senators n' shit and take my picture with them.
